Javadoc on MultiValueBinding. Hide QuerydslBindings.bind(…), ….include(…) and ….exclude(…) methods that take String arguments to reduce the probability of no query class being present.
Refined the value handling for empty request values which are represented as String[] containing an empty String. We now massage those into an empty Collection for MultiValueBindings and a null value for SingleValueInvocations.
We currently skip property values that match this pattern entirely but are prepared to allow a configuration flip switch to handle those scenarios in the future. We currently stick to skipping those values to prevent the bindings from having to deal with null values.
We now also allow the bindings to return null to indicate they don't want to get applied in the resulting predicate at all.
Switched to interface based customization to make it easier to use customizations with Spring Data REST. Added Querydsl-specific adapter of RepositoryInvoker to allow Spring Data REST to hook in the execution of the predicate obtained from request parameters.

We now ignore invalid PropertyPaths on property binding to Querydsl Predicates. Those may occur since the request also holds non-property-related arguments, such as pagination parameters.
Fixed two potential NullPointerExceptions along the way since we no longer depend on the presence of @QuerydslPredicate.

QuerydslBindings now uses a builder style pattern to define custom bindings. This allows to define the same binding for multiple properties of the same type in one configuration call.
Introduced MultiValueBinding to be able to register a binding for multiple source values (i.e. if multiple values are provided for the same parameter). The previously named QuerydslBinding is now a SingleValueBinding which gets adapted to by extracting the first element of the values provided considered as collection.
Slightly refined the generics signature in QuerydslBinding for better type derivation in Lambdas. Removed the need for QuerydslBindingContext by moving a few properties around. The ConversionService instance is now piped into the QuerydslPredicateBuilder directly.
Added a bit of sample data to the Users test domain type to be able to execute the generated Predicates in tests to validate their correctness.

Adding @QuerydslPredicate to a parameter within SpringMVC Controller when having registered the QueryDslPredicateArgumentResolver allows to generate a Querydsl Predicate based on the request parameters.
Parameters will be converted into their corresponding property types before using the as predicate value. Given more than one attribute will connect those using 'and'. Collections of values will force usage of 'in' while single values on collection like properties result in 'contains'.
The base type for building the Querydsl Path is extracted from the methods return type. In case of non domain type return values it can optionally be specified via @QueydslPredicate(root = …). Specific Predicate conversions can be registered via '@QuerydslSpecification'.
This allows to sneak in specific property path handlings more easily.

ProxyProjectionFactory now implements ResourceLoaderAware to be able to use the class loader used by the framework. SpringDataWebConfiguration now forwards the Application context as ResourceLoader through ProxyingHandlerMethodArgumentResolver into the target factory.
We now always render both first and last links in case the page returned is navigable, which essentially means: whenever the result spans across more than one page. I.e. whenever either a next or prev link will be rendered, both first and last links are rendered, too.
Clients can still reason about the fact whether they're on the first or last page by the non-presence of prev (indicates you're on the first page) or next (indicates you're on the last page).
We now add first and last links to the PagedResources created in line with the appearance of the prev and next links. The PagedResourcesAssembler can be configured to enforce the rendering using setForceFirstAndLastRels(…).
PagedResourcesAssembler now creates the self, prev and next links for a PagedResource to be canonical and not contain any template parameters. This is to make sure a client can not actually tweak the links and follow a link that's not strictly conforming to semantics of the rel.
In case the PageableHandlerMethodArgumentResolver was configured to use one-indexed parameters, it wasn't defaulting the lower bounds for the page number. This caused indexes out of the allowed bound submitted causing an invalid index handed tor PageRequest. We now apply better range shifting before the bounds are applied.
Introduced @SpringDataWebConfigurationMixing that can be used on configuration classes that are supposed to contribute components to the Application context when @EnableSpringDataWebSupport is used.
SpringDataWebConfigurationImportSelector scans the org.springframework.data package for classes annotated with that annotation and adds them to the classes to be considered config classes.
We now ship a ProxyingHandlerMethodArgumentResolver that gets registered when @EnableSpringDataWebSupport is activated. It creates Map-based proxy instances for interfaces used as Spring MVC controller method parameters.
Ported Spring Data REST's converters for Distance and Point and turned them into Formatter instances. Extended Metric interface to return an abbreviation. Added getUnit() to Distance and tweaked Jackson setup to ignore the additional property.
We now automatically register the news introduced Formatters when using @EnableSpringDataWebSupport so that Point and Distance values can be parsed and printed from and to Strings out of the box.
We're now using the newly introduced method on ControllerLinkBuilderFactory that takes both a type and a method to forward the method the invocation is happening on independently from the method being invoked.
We now explicitly check for the configured default being null and subsequently return that value if we don't have both the page and the size parameter configured.
Added a JavaConfig class to declare a Spring bean for the newly introduced GeoModule.
@EnableSpringDataWebSupport automatically registers this config class in case Jackson is on the classpath. This comes in handy in combination with Spring Boot which auto-registers all global Module beans with all global ObjectMappers.
Removed support for Jackson 1 based repository populators in favor of Jackson 2 based ones. Removed PageableArgumentResolver in favor of PageableHandlerMethodArgumentResolver. Removed legacy setup code of the new HandlerMethodArgumentResolver implementations.
Introduced a Slice interface which is effectively a Page without the total page information. This will allow store modules to implement slice-by-slice access without having to calculate a total number of elements.
Extracted content and Pageable related functionality into a common Chunk class which serves as base class for the two concrete implementations SliceImpl and PageImpl. Deprecated hasNextPage() etc. on Page in favor of the generic hasNext() methods.

Changed Hateoas(Pageable|Sort)HandlerMethodArgumentResolver to use newly introduced TypeVariables abstraction to avoid having to deal with string representations manually.
The registered TemplateVariables carry a "pagination.….description" key to be resolved against a MessageSource.
The Hateoas(Pageable|Sort)HandlerMethodArgumentResolver now receive a UriComponents instance to inspect for existing query parameters. They then refrain from adding template variables for already present parameters. Slightly modified the way the sort parameters is appended to the pagination properties (although semantically equivalent).
We now handle an IllegalArgumentException being thrown in case we deal with a templated request mapping. We simply skip the attempt to eagerly resolve the base URI for the request and rely on the assembler being capable of resolving it itself or the user effectively providing a Link instances to one of the toResource(…) overloads.
PagedResourcesAssembler now adds a LinkTemplate to every PagedResources instance created and pulls the template variable information from the registered resolvers for Pageable and Sort.
Extended PageableResourceAssemblerArgumentResolver to create a special MethodParameterAwarePagedResourcesAssembler so that the assembler will take qualifier information into account when being injected into controller methods.
Upgraded to Spring HATEOAS 0.9.0.BUILD-SNAPSHOT to be able to benefit from new methods added to MethodParameters as well as the LinkTemplate class. Updated Sonargraph architecture definition to allow the web layer to access logging.
We're now replacing the sort parameter for the URI to be created instead of simply appending them to the source URI to prevent previously applied sort parameters to be taken forward.
The PageableHandlerMethodArgumentResolver and SortHandlerMethodArgumentResolver now transparently ignore invalid values provided for page number, size and sort. We fall back to ignore the invalid values (for sort) and fall back to the defaults where appropriate (page number and size).
Used and adapted test cases from pull request #48.
Based on the discussion in SPR-11004 [0], the declaration of the PagedResourcesAssembler in HateoasAwareSpringDataWebConfiguration will not result in it being autowired using Spring 4.0 in certain circumstances. This change loosens the declaration so that it can be autowired into declarations that have specific generics declarations.

PageRequest now actively prevents page sizes less than one. PageableHandlerMethodArgumentResolver falls back to default page size if it detects a page size less than one. It also rejects invalid default configuration using @PageableDefault.
Extracted the implementation of UriComponentsContributor from PageableHandlerMethoArgumentResolver and SortHandlerMethodArgumentResolver into dedicated subclasses so that we can really make Spring HATEOAS an optional dependency.
The integration tests are now guarded with an assumption to run on Spring 3.2 as Spring 3.1 has issues with JavaConfig and configuration method overrides. We've upgraded to Spring Data Build 1.2 snapshots so that the tests can be run with -Pspring32. This effectively means that the Spring Data Web support can only be used with a current Spring 3.2. Added a note on that in the reference docs and JavaDoc of @EnableSpringDataWebSupport.

PageableHandlerMethodArgumentResolver and SortHandlerMethodArgumentResolver now consistently use set*ParameterName(…) and setQualifierDelimiter(…) for configuration.
Added some more unit tests to verify invalid configuration get rejected.
SortHandlerMethodArgumentResolver now has a setFallbackSort(…) to be able to configure the Sort instance to be used if nothing can be resolved from the request and sort default is configured on the controller method.
Renamed name of getDefaults(…) method in SortHandlerMethodArgumentResolver to getDefaultFromAnnotationOrFallback(…) and refactored implementation to be more understandable.

PageableHandlerMethodArgumentResolver now uses replaceQueryParam(…) to make sure the query parameters necessary for pagination don't accidentally get added multiple times.
Reverting the registration of the DomainClassConverter as a Spring bean an prefer direct registration against the FormatterRegistry handed into addFormatters(…) of WebMvcConvfigurerAdapter. Otherwise we run into CGLib issues while enhancing the config classes.
Updated backing implementation of @EnableSpringDataWebSupport to use WebMvcConfigurerAdapter instead of WebMvcConfigurationSupport as the latter is a very custom beast in terms of configuration. Let the Spring HATEOAS specific configuration class extend the default one to register additional components. The default one accesses the FormattingConversionService through a qualified autowiring. It issues a warning in case none has been configured and asks the user to enable Spring MVC.

Added PagedResourcesAssembler to easily convert Page instances into a PagedResource instance and automatically build the required previous/next links based on the PageableHandlerMethodArgumentResolver present in the MVC configuration. The assembler can either be injected into a Spring MVC controller or a controller method. The latter will then assume the controller methods URI to be used as pagination link base.
Added @EnableSpringDataWebSupport to automatically register HandlerMethodArgumentResolvers for Pageable and Sort as well as a DomainClassConverter that will allow the usage of domain types being managed by Spring Data repositories in controller method signatures. In case Spring HATEOAS is present on the classpath, we'll also register a PagedResourcesAssembler for injection as well as the appropriate HandlerMethodArgumentResolver for injection into controller methods.
Adapted Sonargraph configuration accordingly. Upgraded to Spring HATEOAS 0.6.0.BUILD-SNAPSHOT.
Added HandlerMethodArgumentResolver implementations for Pageable and Sort exposing a new default set of properties (page, size, sort) to resolve pagination and sorting information from the request. To mimic the legacy behavior we expose a (deprecated) LEGACY constant in PageableHandlerMethodArgumentResolver. Clients should move to the new properties structure ASAP. Added unit tests to verify old and new defaulting behavior.
Introduced new annotations @SortDefault (with @SortDefaults wrapper annotation) and @PageableDefault (superseding the legacy @PageableDefaults). The new annotations have more speaking attribute names and the HMAR implementations transparently alias the generic value attribute into a more semantic one (size).
The HMAR implementations implement Spring HATEOAS' UriComponentsContributor to be able to turn Pageable / Sort instances back into URIs created through the MethodLinkBuilderFactory API in Spring HATEOAS.
