Fixes: #9489
Issue link: https://github.com/spring-projects/spring-integration/issues/9489
If request message has a `Content-Length` HTTP, it is still mapped to the target HTTP request
even if that one is indicated as "no-body" (`GET`, `HEAD`, `TRACE`).
In this case Netty fails to decode such a missed body with error:
```
java.lang.IllegalArgumentException: text is empty (possibly HTTP/0.9)), version: HTTP/1.0
```
* Since `Content-Length` is not supposed to be supported for those methods,
remove it altogether from the HTTP request headers
* Add nullability API into the `org.springframework.integration.http.outbound`
* Check received HTTP request on the server side that it does not have such a header for `GET`
**Auto-cherry-pick to `6.3.x` & `6.2.x`**
Fixes: #9259
The `Mono.toFuture()` does not propagate context to thread locals of the `CompletableFuture` consumer.
See `MonoToCompletableFuture`
* Fix `AbstractMessageProducingHandler` to convert reply `Mono` to `CompletableFuture` manually.
Use `doOnEach()` and set thread locals from the Reactor context manually around `replyFuture.complete()/completeExceptionally()`
* Add respective unit test into `WebFluxObservationPropagationTests` to ensure that same trace is used in downstream endpoints after WebFlux client reply
**Auto-cherry-pick to `6.3.x` & `6.2.x`**
Fixes: #9260
The current `IntegrationManagementConfiguration.obtainObservationPatterns()` is to always have an `*` as a first
pattern in the final result.
Because of `HashSet` natural order.
This would lead to ignore all the patterns, especially those with negation
* Fix `IntegrationManagementConfiguration.obtainObservationPatterns()` logic to ignore regular
patterns if `*` is present.
Optimization wise.
* Always put `*` into the end of final array let negative patterns to do their job
* Modify `IntegrationGraphServerTests` & `WebFluxObservationPropagationTests`
test configurations to ensure that `*` pattern does not have a precedence over negative patterns.
**Auto-cherry-pick to `6.3.x` & `6.2.x`**
Fixes: #9001
The `ObservationPropagationChannelInterceptor` does not propagate an observation properly.
And it fully cannot when the message channel is persistent.
* Deprecate `ObservationPropagationChannelInterceptor` in favor of enabled observation on the channel
and target `MessageHandler` which is a consumer of this channel.
* Remove tests with an `ObservationPropagationChannelInterceptor`
* Mention a correct behavior in the `metrics.adoc` and `ObservationPropagationChannelInterceptor` Javadocs
**Auto-cherry-pick to `6.2.x`**
* GH-8626: Provide cleaner `transform()` DSL
Fixes https://github.com/spring-projects/spring-integration/issues/8626
* Add missed `transform(String beanName, @Nullable String methodName)` API
* Introduce a `TransformerSpec` to expose a strict API to configure
transformer variants.
* Introduce `transformWith(Consumer<TransformerSpec>)` as a single point
of all possible transformer and its endpoint options
* Deprecate those `IntegrationFlowDefinition.transform()` variants
which are harder to configure as several lambda arguments
This change will make Kotlin & Groovy DSL more readable and straightforward
* * Use new `transformWith()` in tests where a deprecated API still used
* Add JavaDocs to `TransformerSpec`
* Fix generic types for `BaseIntegrationFlowDefinition.transformWith()` -
they make sense exactly on the `TransformerSpec.transformer()` only
* Apply `transformWith()` for Groovy DSL
* Introduce a new `ClassUtils.isLambda(Object candidate)`
and add a check for Groovy `Closure`
* Fix `GroovyIntegrationFlowDefinition.createConfigurerIfAny()` to propagate a `Consumer` argument
down to the `Closure`
* * Rename `TransformerSpec -> TransformerEndpointSpec` for better context
meaning of the class
* Introduce `KotlinTransformerEndpointSpec` as an extension of the `TransformerEndpointSpec`
to have an `inline fun <reified P> transformer(crossinline function: (P) -> Any)`
for Kotlin style
* Add `KotlinIntegrationFlowDefinition.transformWith(KotlinTransformerEndpointSpec)`
* Deprecate Kotlin methods which are covered by the mentioned `transformWith()`
* Fix tests to use new API
* Mentioned the change in the doc
The `WebTestClient` was previously binding directly to the web layer (no HTTP layer involved).
Because the new instrumentation is done at the HTTP level
(it's required to fully capture error handling and more),
the test client must bind at the HTTP level with a `Connector`.
* Remove `mockito-inline` dependency
* Fix deprecations from Spring Security
* Fix `SmbSessionFactoryWithCIFSContextTests` for compatibility with latest `JCIFS`
* Migrate all the SMB tests to Junit Jupiter
To propagate an `Observation` from reactive stream (e.g. WebFlux)
we have to capture its context and set it into the current thread scope.
* Add a `io.micrometer:context-propagation` dependency to support reactive context propagation
* Populate a `parentObservation` in the `IntegrationObservation.PRODUCER.observation()`
since it is not available for tracing on `Observation.onStart()`.
Might be tentative until upcoming fix in Micrometer Observation
* Populate from reactive context in the `WebFluxInboundEndpoint` where we use just `send()` operation downstream
* Populate from reactive context in the `MessagingGatewaySupport` where we use `send()` operation downstream or `FluxMessageChannel.subscribeTo()`
* Use `contextCapture()` in the `FluxMessageChannel` to gather a `ThreadLocal` info into a Reactor context
and then set back to `ThreadLocal` in the `transformDeferredContextual()` which really happens on a different thread
* Verify a trace propagation from WebFlux to an integration flow via Brave instrumentation in the `WebFluxObservationPropagationTests`
Related to https://stackoverflow.com/questions/75109345/spring-integration-webflux-inboundgateway-replychannel-for-error-response
The `MessagingGatewaySupport.doSendAndReceiveMessageReactive()` uses `MutableMessageBuilder`
to build a new message for next `send` operation.
Even if this is an error flow, the provided `ErrorMessage` becomes a plain `MutableMessage`.
This may break some downstream logics, like `TracingChannelInterceptor` from Spring Cloud Sleuth,
which checks for the `Message` class to rebuild or reuse a message content.
Therefore, an error handling flow is not able to extract error info because it is just lost.
* Fix `MessagingGatewaySupport.doSendAndReceiveMessageReactive()` to check for message type before
choosing an `AbstractIntegrationMessageBuilder` impl for building a new message.
The regular `MessageBuilder` just builds a new `ErrorMessage` for an exception payload.
* Add `filter()` into a `WebFluxDslTests` error handling flow to be sure that message for
error sub-flow is really an `ErrorMessage`
* GH-3954: Fix WebFlux XML config for ambiguity
Fixes https://github.com/spring-projects/spring-integration/issues/3954
When `web-client` attribute is provided for the WebFlux outbound components configuration via XML,
the `encoding-mode` is silently ignored
* Check for `encoding-mode` attribute presence in the `WebFluxOutboundChannelAdapterParser`
when `web-client` is provided and throw respective exception to reject such a config
**Cherry-pick to `5.5.x`**
* * Improve error messages in the `WebFluxOutboundChannelAdapterParser`
Fixes https://github.com/spring-projects/spring-integration/issues/3936
I am passing request attributes which is getting used in exchangefilter to influence the flow. This request attribute is of type String as Key and Value as a user defined object.
My expectation is to pass this information in request attributes so that it will eventually available in exchangefilter for further processing but i dont find a way to pass these request attribute in webflux integration.
* Add webclient request attributes into `WebFluxRequestExecutingMessageHandler`
* Improve code style and docs
Fixes https://github.com/spring-projects/spring-integration/issues/3686
* Add `src/idea` with respective editor config for IntelliJ IDEA.
Must be imported into an IDE
* Add `src/eclipse` with respective editor config for Eclipse/STS
* Reformat imports in source code according a new editor config
* GH-3897: Deprecate `ChannelSecurityInterceptor`
Fixes https://github.com/spring-projects/spring-integration/issues/3897
Spring Security has deprecated `AccessDecisionManager` and all its infrastructure
in favor of `AuthorizationManager`
* Deprecate and AOP `ChannelSecurityInterceptor` and all its infrastructure,
including `@SecuredChannel` and respective XML configuration.
The `AuthorizationChannelInterceptor` added to respective channels for security
or configured as a global channel interceptor fully covers the previous AOP configuration
* Fix deprecation warnings in other tests with security
* Fix language in docs
Co-authored-by: Gary Russell <grussell@vmware.com>
* * Remove `forRemoval` attr from `@Deprecated` markers for Security classes:
looks like to mark `@Deprecated` and even `@SuppressWarnings("deprecation")`
don't silence warnings on compilation

* GH-3828: Initial Spring AOT support
Fixes https://github.com/spring-projects/spring-integration/issues/3828
* Provide an infrastructure based on a new Spring AOT engine in the latest Spring Framework
* Introduce `RuntimeHintsRegistrar` impls into modules which require some reflection,
resources or proxies and serialization available in the native image
* Mark some framework method with the `@Reflective` to make their reflection
info available in the native image, for example for SpEL or JMX invocations
* Add a `GatewayProxyBeanRegistrationAotProcessor` to register proxy interfaces
info for messaging gateways (either instance of the `GatewayProxyFactoryBean`)
* Rework `ConverterRegistrar` to not use a `beanFactory.getBeansWithAnnotation()`
since it is not available after AOT phase.
Instead, register an intermediate `IntegrationConverterRegistration` bean definition
from the `IntegrationConverterInitializer`
* Refactor `GlobalChannelInterceptorInitializer` a bit according to a new logic in the
`IntegrationConverterInitializer`
* Remove `JsonNodeWrapperToJsonNodeConverter` bean registration from the
`DefaultConfiguringBeanFactoryPostProcessor` - it is added by the `ConverterRegistrar`
into the target `ConversionService`
* Fix `ParentContextTests` respectively a `JsonNodeWrapperToJsonNodeConverter` bean removal
* Refactor `XsltPayloadTransformer` to not load a `ServletContextResource`, but just use its
name for the `xslResource` condition
* * Rework AOT support according latest changes and requirements
* Remove `@Bean` reflection since it is not needed any more
* Add `AotDetector.useGeneratedArtifacts()` condition to not register beans
one more time at runtime after AOT build phase
* Fix deprecation in the WebFlux test from the latest SF
Fixes https://github.com/spring-projects/spring-integration/issues/3623
* `IntegrationFlow` refactoring
* Apply several code style improvements and good practices
* Code style: no empty lines for methods javadocs
* make deprecated implementation reuse actual one instead of the copy-paste approach
* add whats-new comments
* Fix whats-new page according to standards
* Upgrade Spring dependencies to the latest SNAPSHOTs

* Fix `JdbcMessageStore` and `DefaultLockRepository` to rely on the `DataIntegrityViolationException`
instead of only its `DuplicateKeyException` extension.
This is the current behavior of the SQL errors translation
* Disable `WebFluxDslTests.testValidation()` - doesn't subscribe to the reply somehow...
* Refine `SimplePool.PoolSemaphore.reducePermits()`
The `WebFluxRequestExecutingMessageHandler` does direct `ClientResponse.create(entity.getStatusCode())`
which comes with a `ExchangeStrategies.withDefaults()`.
Even if end-user configures a `WebClient` properly, the response is created with default strategies.
* Rework `WebFluxRequestExecutingMessageHandler` internal logic to call `ResponseSpec.toEntityFlux(BodyExtractor)`
instead of manual `ClientResponse.create()`
* Add unit test to the `WebFluxRequestExecutingMessageHandlerTests` to ensure that configured `maxInMemorySize`
on the `WebClient` strategies has an effect when response body is bigger than expected size
**Cherry-pick to `5.4.x`**
Related to: https://stackoverflow.com/questions/68637283/how-to-customize-response-in-spring-integration-using-webflux-when-a-specific-er
The function provided for the `ConsumerEndpointSpec.customizeMonoReply()` may convert
incoming value to something else.
With wildcards it cannot be compiled without casting.
* Add `<T, V>` generic arg for the `customizeMonoReply()` to conform in and out types carrying.
* Modify `WebFluxDslTests` to demonstrate the problem and confirm the fix
**Cherry-pick to `5.4.x` & `5.3.x`**

* GH-3529: Add HTTP & WebFlux extractResponseBody
Fixes https://github.com/spring-projects/spring-integration/issues/3529
* Expose a convenient `extractResponseBody` option on the HTTP client components
to let end-user to decide if the body of `ResponseEntity` must be extracted (default)
or the whole `ResponseEntity` should be produced as a reply message payload
* Remove a deprecated since `5.3` `encode-uri` option

* GH-3483: Fallback to RestTemplate.converters
Fixes https://github.com/spring-projects/spring-integration/issues/3483
When there is no reasonable way to determine a `Content-Type`
from the request message, do not set an `application/x-java-serialized-object`
as a fallback and let the `RestTemplate` to determine the target type and
conversion through its `HttpMessageConverter` set
* Remove `application/x-java-serialized-object` fallback from the
`AbstractHttpRequestExecutingMessageHandler`
* Adjust its log messages according `LogAccessor`
* Un`@Disable` `WebFluxDslTests` since fix was done in Spring Security

* Remove `javax.annotation-api` and `apiguardian-api` as redundant dependencies
* Fix MessagingGatewaySupport for reactive error
The `onErrorResume()` was in a wrong place for the
`doSendAndReceiveMessageReactive()`: we have to catch all the exceptions
from the top level `Mono`, not only a reply one as it was before.

* GH-3183: Add ReactiveRequestHandlerAdvice
Fixes https://github.com/spring-projects/spring-integration/issues/3183
* Introduce a `ReactiveRequestHandlerAdvice` with a `BiFunction<Message<?>, Mono<?>, Publisher<?>>`
logic to apply a `Mono.transform()` operator for a returned from the handler `Mono` reply
* Fix `WebFluxRequestExecutingMessageHandler` to return a `Mono.then()` instead of an explicit subscription -
it happens downstream anyway during reply producing with a proper error handling, too
* Demonstrate `ReactiveRequestHandlerAdvice` in the `RSocketDslTests` - without `retry()` it fails
* Add `ConsumerEndpointSpec.customizeMonoReply()` for convenience
* Document `ReactiveRequestHandlerAdvice` feature
* * Fix language in docs
* GH-3154: Support `UriBuilderFactory.EncodingMode`
Fixes https://github.com/spring-projects/spring-integration/issues/3154
Spring Framework now provides a `DefaultUriBuilderFactory.EncodingMode`
for encoding URIs in the `RestTemplate` before and after uri template
enrichment with uri variables.
Therefore `encodeUri` and manual uri variables substitution is not necessary
in Spring Integration HTTP components
* Deprecate `AbstractHttpRequestExecutingMessageHandler.encodeUri` in favor of
`DefaultUriBuilderFactory.EncodingMode` and respective configuration
on the `RestTemplate` in HTTP module and `WebClient` in WebFlux module
* * Really populate `uriFactory` into an internal `RestTemplate`
* Ensure in tests that `encoding-mode` is populated properly into an internal `RestTemplate`
* Clean up affected HTTP tests for AssertJ and JUnit 5
* * Clean up formatting
* * Apply fix for WebFlux module
* Add docs for new `encoding-mode` option
* * Remove unused import in the test
* Add Validation to HTTP Inbound
* Pull a validation functionality from `WebFluxInboundEndpoint` to its
super class `BaseHttpInboundEndpoint` making a validation available for
the `HttpRequestHandlingEndpointSupport` as well
* Do the same for the `validator()` option in DSL for the
`HttpInboundEndpointSupportSpec`
* Add `validator` XML attribute for both HTTP and WebFlux inbound
endpoint XSDs
* Test parsers for a new `validator` option
* Document validation in the `http.adoc`
* Apply some polishing in the `http.adoc`, as well as in the
`HttpRequestHandlingEndpointSupport` JavaDocs

`Publisher` items before the payload is finally built for the message to
send.
* Add WebFlux into the table of endpoints in the `endpoint-summary.adoc`
* * Remove unused imports
* Fix `SimpleMessageListenerContainerSpec` for deprecated `txSize` option

See https://stackoverflow.com/questions/56729517/spring-integration-webflux-validate-input-json-body
* Introduce a `WebFluxInboundEndpoint.validator` option to validate
a request payload after conversion HTTP request into a `Publisher`
* Expose a `WebFluxInboundEndpointSpec.validator()` option
* Introduce a `IntegrationWebExchangeBindException` to extend a
`WebExchangeBindException` for Spring Integration use-case.
such an exception is used in the `ResponseStatusExceptionHandler`
extensions, like one in Spring Boot for proper response rendering
* Test and document the solution
* * Remove unused imports from IntegrationWebExchangeBindException
* Use properly `cache()` for the `Mono` in the `ClientRSocketConnector`
* Don't require a `publisherElementTypeExpression` in the
`RSocketOutboundGateway`: the target element type is determined
automatically in the `DefaultRequestSpec.toResponseSpec()`
* SF has deprecated `MediaType.APPLICATION_JSON_UTF8`: fix all its usage
in favor of recommendations to use the `MediaType.APPLICATION_JSON` instead
* Also fix plain `application/json;charset=UTF-8` literals to use
`MediaType.APPLICATION_JSON` instead
* Add the support for a `Publisher`, `Resource` and `MultiValueMap`
into the `WebFluxRequestExecutingMessageHandler`
* Along side with the `WebFluxRequestExecutingMessageHandler.setPublisherElementType`
and `WebFluxRequestExecutingMessageHandler.setPublisherElementTypeExpression`,

JIRA: https://jira.spring.io/browse/INT-4541
Add test case to reproduce.
The gateway correctly sets up the `errorChannel` header so that a downstream
`MPEH` will send exceptions back to the gateway, but the `map()` function
did not check for an error message.
Check for an error message and throw the payload so that the `onErrorResume`
will route to the error channel.
* INT-4540: Use MessageHeaders in GenericHandler
JIRA: https://jira.spring.io/browse/INT-4540
For better end-user experience use a `MessageHeaders` in the
`GenericHandler` instead of plain `Map<String, Object>`
* * Fix `IntegrationFlowEventsTests`
JIRA: https://jira.spring.io/browse/INT-4479

for evaluation context for `statusCodeExpression` execution
* INT-4480: Use component type for ids in the flow
JIRA: https://jira.spring.io/browse/INT-4480
For better readability of bean names, e.g. from the metrics collectors,
generate them from the component type instead of their fully qualified
class names
* * Fix bean name for injection in the WebFluxDslTests
