Previously (since Spring 3.1.1) RecursiveAnnotationAttributesVisitor logs at level WARN when ASM parsing encounters an annotation or an (enum used within an annotation) that cannot be classloaded. This is not necessarily indicative of an error, e.g. JSR-305 annotations such as @Nonnull may be used only for static analysis purposes, but because these annotations have runtime retention, they remain present in the bytecode. Per section 9.6.1.2 of the JLS, "An annotation that is present in the binary may or may not be available at run-time via the reflective libraries of the Java platform." This commit lowers the log level of these messages from warn to debug, but leaves at warn level other messages dealing with the ability reflectively read enum values from within annotations. Building from source
The Spring Framework uses a Gradle-based build system. In the instructions
below, ./gradlew is invoked from the root of the source tree and
serves as a cross-platform, self-contained bootstrap mechanism for the build. The only
prerequisites are git and JDK 1.6+.
check out sources
git clone git://github.com/SpringSource/spring-framework.git
compile and test, build all jars, distribution zips and docs
./gradlew build
install all spring-* jars into your local Maven cache
./gradlew install
import sources into your IDE
Run ./import-into-eclipse.sh or read import-into-idea.md as appropriate.
